Greenleaf Helps Connect Farmers to Chefs
Jameson Patton and Steve Walton officially began Greenleaf in 1976 by bringing outstanding organic produce from small local farms to young chefs – making it easy for them to get the high-quality seasonal fruits and vegetables they craved. Greenleaf blossomed by developing meaningful relationships with local farms and chefs across Northern California looking for top quality unique products; they help service independent restaurants, hotels & resorts, meal delivery, corporate cafes, catering, restaurant groups, wineries, universities, contracted & retail businesses.
There are many local farms that Greenleaf helps connect to chefs and businesses, and one of Greenleaf’s partners is Riverdog Farm.
Riverdog Farm began as a 2-acre organic vegetable farm in Napa County. Started by partners Trini Campbell and Tim Mueller, Riverdog Farm in Guinda, California, is certified by California Certified Organic Farmers, meaning all their produce is grown without the use of synthetic pesticides or fertilizers.
Trini grew up in Des Moines Iowa and has always had a green thumb. She is not only an exceptional farmer, but also a caring and generous member of her community. She can be found at the Saturday Berkeley Market, where she is sure to greet you with a smile!
Originally from Ohio, Tim is a man of many trades and gives the utmost care and attention to making sure that people, land, and animals are well taken care of. You can find him at the Tuesday Berkeley Farmers’ market wearing his signature Riverdog t-shirt.
Their philosophy is that by taking care of their employees, land, and animals, they are helping to create a food system that is better for everyone—and one that tastes better too! As one of the first organic farms to sell at the Berkeley Farmers’ markets, they have been helping to bring organic, seasonal, local food to the fore of the sustainable food movement for over 25 years.
Greenleaf has been working with Riverdog Farms since the 90’s and their relationship has helped Riverdog Farm grow from 15 acres to over 400 acres. Tim Mueller describes Greenleaf as “an incredibly ethical company that does an amazing job of representing farmers through the whole process, they are fair and reasonable with excellent quality control and they are an absolute pleasure to work with.”
