Ingredients:

  • 1¾ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1½ cups beer
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg white
  • 1 tsp. baking powder
  • 4 cups vegetable oil
  • 16 asparagus spears
  • Salt, white pepper and cayenne pepper, to taste

Directions:

Prep: 10 minutes, Cook: about 5 minutes, Serves: 6

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together flour, beer, egg, egg white and baking powder
  2. Heat oil to 325ºF in a deep fryer or deep saucepot
  3. Dip asparagus in beer batter; fry for 3 to 4 minutes or until golden brown
  4. Drain on paper towels, then season to taste
